Tips for buying spices: how to find the right ones
They are the icing on the cake of every dish, the crowning glory, the highlight in the kitchen: thanks to spices and herbs, you can experience delicious flavor perfection. It tastes good, delights and flatters the palate - in the right quantities and the right varieties. But what is 'right'? There is no single truth about the perfect blend. Creating a unique experience as a chef or food producer is only possible if the spices and herbs are individually selected and combined. Leave a lasting impression. Just like coffee, spices and herbs retain their intense flavor longer the less they come into contact with oxygen. There are also significant differences in shelf life: While whole spices keep for about a year, the duration is reduced to just half a year for those in powder form. For the longest possible shelf life, they should be stored in a cool, dark and dry place.
